I have a set of high end Jean Dubost Laguiole knives and thought these would stack up. Not so. The quality of these SCIP brand knives are decent at first glance, but that's about it. The detailing is just not there, neither is the quality otherwise. These are not the French made / hand detailed kind found otherwise, this set is mass-produced in China.

Product Description:
SCIP has been manufacturing cutlery and wine accessories since 1850 in Thiers, the capital for traditional fine cutlery in central France. Laguiole (pronounced lag-YALL) is a type of knife that originated as a shepard's tool and weapon. The emperor Napoleon bestowed is emblem (the bee, symbol of industriousness) for its quality. Unfortunatly the name Laguiole is public domain and has been abused and used for items that are not of the quality and sometimes not even related to the unique knives that mad it famous. For your satisfaction, make sure that they are produced by a reputable manufacturer.
