You may notice some complaints on other sites about some 'rust' issue.This is unfortunately a common issue that people will complain about regarding just about any stainless steel cutlery.It is because of a common myth that stainless steel is somehow impervious to rust.This is just not the case.Stainless steel is far more resilient to rust, but it can still rust if proper care is not taken.My best guess is that these folks who complain believe it's rust proof and when they do not properly care for the cutlery it then... surprise... rusts!
I just follow a few simple steps.Never leave cutlery of any kind submerged in water overnight.Promptly remove cutlery from the dishwasher when they are finished and safe to remove.Even with a drying cycle, most dishwashers still keep a lot of moisture inside.Besides this, I don't go through any special effort to wipe the knives after removing them from the dishwasher or anything like that.On occasion if a spot of surface rust appears, I just rub it off with a 3M sponge and there's no trace of it.
Also note, you should not sharpen these knives.The factory sharpness is pretty much permanent.If you try to sharpen them with traditional household sharpeners, you are likely to ruin and eventually dull the knives.
