My 20-inch strip holds 6 knives, comfortably spaced, to include 2 paring knives, 2 8-inch blades and 2 10-inch blades. The magnets are quite strong, more than enough to cling to the knives through 1/8 inch (estimate?) of knife-friendly Epicurean cutting board material. Yet the knives release easily. That slip-on surface treatment is the best part; I don't have to fret about scuffing the powder finish on my Shun or damaging edges when the knives inevitably snap to edge-first.

Bonuses include a built-in mounting level, easy installation and SOLID mounting kit. Plus the removable face allows for easy clean-up. It's a quality set-up.
